Florida Medicare

Medicare in Florida

Although Florida has the reputation of being a haven for retirees, it does not have the largest population of residents age 65 or older. Florida loses that honor to the state of California. However, Florida still ranks largest in the U.S. and has an active senior community. The percentage of the senior population in Florida is greater than in most other states.

Given the high populations of senior citizens, the subject of Florida Medicare is a popular one. Many residents of Florida are also enrollees in Florida Medicare.

The Florida benchmark for Part D/Part C plan premiums in 2011 is $25.41. All Florida residents qualifying for the full Low Income Subsidy do not pay a monthly premium for a 2011 Florida Medicare Part D plan or Florida Medicare Advantage plan with drug coverage whose monthly premium does not exceed the aforementioned amount.

In 2011, there are 29 available Florida Part D plans offered by 16 different organizations. 4 of these Florida Part D plans will be Low Income Subsidy eligible. The lowest premium for a Florida Part D plan is $14.80 while the maximum premium in Florida for a Part D plan is $119.70.
